The spring grading schedule is at follows:

Pre-Grading and Kid's Grading
On Saturday, May 2nd, 10:00 AM in the dojo there will be a grading for kids yellow-belt and lower, and a pre-grading for all other ranks and ages.

March 2009 Sunday Seminars

The dojo will be presenting several seminars on Sunday afternoons in March. These will focus on specific aspects of Karate training. The seminars will begin at 1:00 PM and generally run until about 4:00 PM.

Grading

There will be a grading at the dojo starting at the regular time on Saturday, 3 May. Sensei will let you know if you are eligible for grading. All students, grading or not, are welcome to participate. Please be aware that the grading class may finish later than ordinary classes.

Kata Class

There will be a Kata class on Sunday, 13 April at 1:00 PM. It will run for approximately two hours. All students are invited.

Northeastern Genbukai Canada Karate Championships

There is a tournament on Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at the Centennial Centre in Bonnyville, AB. Registration is 8:30 AM, and the tournament begins at 10:00 AM.

Return to Normal Schedule

We have returned to the normal schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hours for the kids classes will not change, but adult classes will start at 7:30 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM.

Summer Hours

Starting Tuesday, 2 July the dojo will be on summer hours until further notice, probably early September. Saturday classes will not change, nor will children's classes. However, adult classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays will begin 1/2 hour earlier (at 7:00) and end at 8:30. The first half hour of the adult class on Tuesdays and Thursdays will be a mixed class with the kids.

Uechi-Ryu World Cup Seminars and Tournament - July 5 to 8

Shihan Demura will be a guest at the Uechi-Ryu World Cup to be held from July 5th to 8th at the Servus Credit Union Place in St. Albert (see map). The seminars on Thursday and Friday (July 5 and 6) as well as the open tournament on Saturday (July 7) are available to Genbukai students, and you are encouraged to attend.

Directions to Commonwealth Centre

Sensei Steuart has passed on some instructions for getting to the Commonwealth Center for the tournament:

Regardless of which direction people arrive from, these directions begin at the "Border Marker" corner. People coming from the south will see the CWC immediately upon arriving in town.

Stay on highway 16 (Ray Nelson Drive) until 50th Avenue (KFC, Arbys, Border Markers corner), then turn south and proceed to 12th Street
